SPF - Reminiscence

Sometime in 2003, i was just a little trainee at the old Police Academy. TRACOM - What we used to call it.

Having hailed from Squad 10/03, my squad had 9 girls - one of the most in a regular squad.

Squad 10 - Most popular in the male dominated camp-site amongst regulars/national servicemen.

Guys would wolf-whistle when we jog/march past. Then i'll take a peek above at the Bravo(NS), Charlie (NS), Delta (regular) coys and see them waving lol. Also, my squadmate Jess & I would have requests for photo-taking with individual NSmen just before their ORD dates.

Not a tinge of makeup on my face, i was surprised at the attention in Police Camp. Who would wanna take a second look at me? Tall & skinny with my long locks trimmed(forced) to a boyish crop? I was almost depressed having being made to part with my long hair..

Then there was the weird scribbling i saw at the back gate duty table. "Valerie Sqd 10/03 has a firm butt!" i almost fainted after chancing upon it..

I miss jogging in the evenings to keep fit (i had abs back then!!!)
I miss eating @ Mess/Mass and hearing songs requested & dedicated to me, Valerie Wong of Squad 10/03
I miss laughing & crying with my bunk makes Jessica/Noriani when we went thru thick & thin (Jess is happily married to her fellow colleague & Noriani is happily attached)
I miss sneaking out to sit at the tables at night for chatting sessions
I miss playing volleyball with C2/03
I miss going to the movies with C2/03.. oi, no more swimming pool theme movies k? Hee..
I miss Alpha/PAD (CP, COS) and all..

I love the SPF! Wait for my come-back as a VSC.. haha!

Old lady goes to NUS at 12am

She was a perfect 90degrees angle. Severly hunched (back) and standing along Clementi Ave 3 just outside the interchange. Beside her were 2 suitcases and 3 big plastic bags of stuff.

I walked past her, along with other passerbys only to find myself walking back to her.

Asked her if she was hailing for a cab. She was a Chinese lady was in her 60s/70s. Heavily kohled eyes. She blinked, seemingly thinking. Maybe she was wondering:" Is that a girl in her black tube top/black capris helping me? Gee.. i thought she was an ah-lian"

I asked her again and she nodded. So i walked further down to hail the cab. 8283L Comfort. I carried her suitcases-they weigh like 5packs of rice-my feet turn wobbly. Wanted to put it in the boot but she said it was money. The rest wasn't money but she prefer to put them all in the back seat and squeezed with them for space. Every single plastic bag and suit cases were terribly heavy. I wonder how she goes around..poor thing~

The driver nagged a little at her stubbornness. Many thanks to the little teenager boy who offered a helping hand and stayed behind to make sure everything was fine.

He had intially asked the old lady if she was hailing a cab but she ignored him.

Will you be my STEAD? :p

Call me conversative, but i just don't fancy adding strangers to my facebook. Not even those whom i have common friends with- Reason being, they don't even bother dropping you a message.

Has technology taken over our lives and cut off communication?
Prolly people even ask this over SMS:
1) Will u be my gf?
2)Wanna ballot for flat?(marriage proposal)
3) I love you! (1st declaration.. even if rejected, not so "ma-lu")

Usually i click on their profile to check if i had known them from somewhere. Next thing i know is that there r hordes of girls in their profile. Only the pretty ones.
My gut feel is that this people surf fb for hrs a day to add girls randomly. Perhaps i shld feel honoured? *pukes pukes*
Latest interesting request being this guy who 'cleverly' used the above picture of a house as his profile pic in facebook. Interested? Tell me, will give you the name. Lotsa pretty girls he added already. Gd luck~

Crispy, blow-dried fur like ba1 hoon4

My dad used to bath Smoky right after he got home from work untill she got smarter. Started hiding under the dining table and growl at anyone who got near. When the coast is clear, she would come out from her hiding place looking so full of herself.

Dad then used other methods-calling us on the phone, to put her in the bath before he comes home in the evening. But Smoky started to sense something fishy. Then she started to hide once the phone rings at Dad's homecoming time.

Took some pics of her in the bath..

Her signature look: "Never seen a bath before, u silly girl?"

Cyber shots

Found some rather silly pics i took when i 1st tried my hand at the webcam

Messy hair me getting lying on the bed..

+ 4cm

I cringed when i saw this shop on a recent trip to Peninsular Plaza..

When i was just a little girl..

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.
Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be

Turning 1. Happy Birthday to me!!!
I had the thickest of hair and looked like a little boy..
Love me~

Bikini Bar, Sentosa

5pm - This has to be the latest I've ever brought Smoky to Sentosa!

It never fails to get to me when i see the spark in Smoky's eyes (her pointy ears raised) once i bring out her lease/clothes! I'm getting her to do her most dreaded activity- SWIMMING! Haha.. the only thing she ever does when plonk into the sea is to wade out!
The sky is a beautiful blue with an orange glow
We ordered the Pepperoni Pizza!
Yummy!! Next time will try the wings & fries :p
After our swim
And our drink: Budweisers (2 = $15 only!) Budweiser originated from Brazil/Belgium in 1876. An American-style lager, it s one of the most popular beers in the United States. Budweiser is made of 80% rice in addition to hops and barley malt, with 5% alcohol content.

Service was great. Only sad part would be the Chinese national who filmed me as i was trying to get out of my dress (wearing my swimwear inside already). He couldn't care less even if i had a stud beside me who could punch the living daylights out of him. I mean, it's only natural if they orgle. But to film me throughout? ...

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

One of my favourite festivals would be the Mid Autumn Festival, where it used to be known to me as "Lantern Festival" when i was a little girl..

Story behind the Mid-Autumn Festival:

The fateful night when Chang'e was lifted up to the moon. Unlike many lunar deities in other cultures who personify the moon, Chang'e simply lives on the moon but is not the moon per se.

Mid-Autumn Rituals:
- Eating mooncakes outside, under the moon
- Putting pomelo rinds on one's head
- Carrying brightly-lit lanterns, lighting lanterns on towers
- Burning incenseto deities like Chang'e 嫦娥
- Planting Mid-Autumn trees
- Collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members
- Fire Dragon Dances

I remember peddling pretty authentic paper lanterns in the park with my family and cousins. We were so excited back then and each time the wind comes too strong, we had to cover our lanterns to prevent the flame from dying out.
When i was a little older and more mischievous, we'll burn our lanterns @ the end of the night of celebration *evil grins* Those were the days.. =)
These days, I love the Double Yolk Mooncakes. Always looking out for the Mooncake Fair @ Takashimaya and trying all the various makes from the big hotels.

I like Durian Snowskin Mooncakes with thick durian paste. Four Seasons (not the hotel chain) did it pretty well, i remember. But my favourite mooncake has to be Sze Chuan Court's (Swisso'tel the Stamford)'s double yolk mooncakes-lotus paste.
10/10 (full marks)
Beats the likes of any other hotels you can think of. It's soft skin and melt-in-ur-mouth lotus paste with the fresh & dripping egg yolks leaves you wanting for more! :p~

Some pics of me in a Mid-Autumn party (2009)

Venue: A house in Holland
Dresscode: Cheongsam

$$$

An acquaintance recently said to me, "Marryin seems to b the trend nowadays.. I've gone to so much weddings that im sick of it. What the hell with getting hitched - I really dun understand. I still haven't had enuff fun, travelled to enuff counries... so much things to do...tats y i say i still feel 21 when weekends come."

I told him that he can still do all of those even after marriage and that he is NOT 21. Of course friends around his age would be getting married. He should be happy for them. And why not marriage, if both parties are willing to take their relationship to another level?

Then he mentioned that after marriage, he has to worry abt $$, house, bills, etc etc...huge load of responsibilites and that he doesn't think he is ready for that. And that he is more of a laidback and free spirited guy who wants to enjoy while hes still/feel young..

Well, your parents do have such challenges before and did that stop them from having you? People in the good old days didn't have much money but they were happy back then. Now, people have more $$$ but they could never be happy if they do not know how to feel contented.

Contentment- treasuring and loving everyone and everything you have. Do not wait till you lose them, or you will be sorry for the rest of your life.

Nevertheless, don't give up your dreams and goals in life, as we need challenges from time to time, to make our lives more exciting and fufilling.

"Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry."

$$$. Don't think too much into it or it may rob you of your friends and loved ones.

Growing old

Ever since i hit 21, time seems to fly past. I started to fear aging- youthful looks start to deteriote as you are about to hit the big 3-0.

Fear strikes me, of being a wrinkled prune left on the shelf.

Turning 28 this 2009 turned out to be quite a joy. Your presence somehow turn things around. I find the strength to go on in life and in fact, greet it with a warm embrace. This 28th birthday may be lacking presents, surprises and fall short of expectations but i feel blissful, deep down in my heart.

Inner Peace- Contentment, sense of security, stability i have never felt in my life ever.

All of which would not have been possible, less you.
Thank you for coming into my life and taking me with you ; )
